Huge classification and standardisation
project for D&TS B.V.
D&TS B.V., with offices in Venlo - Belfeld and Wuppertal
(Germany), has recently been given a contract to set up a high
quality PARTgateway™ database on behalf of a consortium
of German machine manufacturers.
In this case, it involves the complete contents of an inter-agency
PLM master database for applied ERP/PDM/3D-CAD systems.
Following project conclusion, engineering and procurement –
amongst others – will be able to access, using a 3D geometric
“search-and-find” system, a unique database containing
all the parts that were already successfully used in previous
projects, resulting in a significant reduction of the “total
cost of ownership” of these parts.

The
corresponding native 3D CAD data files of purchased and manufactured
parts can be directly incorporated in new projects.
As a result, the companies will be reducing the number of new
parts considerably and achieve a cost price saving on new projects
of more than 15%.
Moreover, it shortens “time to market” substantially.
The project is implemented by D&TS and its German partner
company CADENAS making use, amongst others, of the international
eCl@ss classification system, which allows for a standardised
e-Business procurement and engineering link with the main suppliers.

eClass e.V. in Germany and was at the same time officially appointed
as “Branch Office Benelux”.
