INFO-Tablet:
For the INFO-Tablet D&TS has established a unique relationship
with Xybernaut,
a US-based supplier of mobile computer solutions. D&TS
provides the applications and the contents, and Xybernaut
provides the platform. In this project almost all D&TS
fields of expertise are involved: technical documentation,
illustrations, CATALOGcreator
and of course multimedia and internet.
INFO-Tablet as a central information hub:
Simply put this it what it boils down to: Your field staff
need information. How the information is exactly provided,
depends upon your requirements. Some considerations include:
- What is already available in digital form? (There might
be some PDFs);
- Is a direct connection between staff and office required?
(e.g. GPRS or UMTS);
- What information does a staff member need? (CAD drawings
or assembly instructions);
- What facilities does a staff member need to have? (e-mail);
- How complex is the information?
Basically, the INFO-Tablet replaces stacks of documents and
binders. Updates are distributed via internet. Know-how is
exchanged with colleagues via the tablet (equipped with a
modem), which increases service levels.
